One of my clients (and also a friend), Kristina, needed two pop-ups —you know, those little windows that pop up with an offer or message when you land on a page? One was to invite people to sign up for her newsletter, and another was offering a free reading—she’s a psychic medium. You can check them out here: Feel Believe Create.
There are tons of WordPress plugins for that, but I went with Popup Maker. I chose it because it does exactly what it’s supposed to, and the pop-ups look great. Plus, it’s free with optional paid upgrades. One upgrade feature lets you duplicate pop-ups across other pages or features, but I figured out a workaround, so there was no need to upgrade.
The downside? It was a bit tricky to configure, and I’ve been doing this kind of work for over 15 years. If you’re more of a DIY type and want to use this plugin, just know you might need to spend a few hours ironing out the details. Maybe it’s just me! They do have tutorials on their website, but honestly, I ended up asking ChatGPT for help every time I got stuck.
Overall, Popup Maker gets the job done, offers a lot of flexibility, and the pop-ups look polished and professional for marketing purposes. But heads up—it’s not super user-friendly. On the plus side, their tech support is responsive. So, if you decide to try it, just plan on setting aside a little extra time to get it running smoothly.
