How to optimize an Etsy Listing | Promote Etsy Listing

by | Feb 6, 2025 | SEO | 0 comments

I was hired a few weeks ago to optimize my friend’s two Ety’s stores since they were not getting much sales or traffic lately.  I just finished up last week and over the weekend I got word she had three new sales in one day and the next day she had another one.  I was super excited about that since I really did not expect to see results so quickly.

Here is what Chatgpt says when I asked how long it takes to see results from optimizing an Etsy store listing.

“Optimizing your Etsy store listings is a strategic process that requires patience. After implementing changes, it typically takes 30 to 90 days to observe noticeable results. This period allows Etsy’s algorithm to assess your listing’s performance based on factors like relevance, listing quality, and conversion rates.

Key Factors Influencing Results:

Keyword Relevance: Ensure your titles and tags align with terms buyers commonly use.

Listing Quality: High-quality images and detailed descriptions enhance buyer engagement.

Conversion Rate: A higher ratio of views to sales signals to Etsy that your product is desirable.”

I would lean more to the 30 day window for how long it takes to get results, because I began optimizing one of her stores a month ago and now she is getting more sales.

Below is how I optimized an Etsy listing.  I researched keywords using my SEO keyword research program called Keysearch, and add them to the title, description, and alt description of the images.  The reason why I used Keysearch is because Etsy listings bleed into the search engines and show up when you do a search for something that fits the bill.  So it made sense to do keyword research for Google and Bing, and not just Etsy.  The photo is where I used those keyphrases.

The next part of my optimization work was finding relevant Etsy tags for the listing.  My secret?  I like to search for a similar item, sort the results with “top reviews”, click on the first listing, scroll to the bottom, copy the related search phrases, and then paste it into a notepad.  I use the best 13 of those phrases as tags and paste them into the tags area of the listing.  See the photo.
