I tried out the AI image generator that comes with one of my stock image subscriptions and this is what it created when I asked for an image of Fish Pose (Matsyasana) in Yoga.
At the current timeline, I think I am safe from being replaced by AI.
Here is what ChatGPT says “AI is likely to augment the work of graphic and website designers by automating certain tasks and providing design suggestions. However, the role of human designers is unlikely to be completely replaced, especially in areas that require creativity, empathy, cultural understanding, and strategic decision-making. The future of design is likely to involve a collaboration between humans and AI, where designers use AI tools to enhance their work rather than replace it entirely.”.
I’ll be blunt. I’m doubtful that AI, if what’s available could even be called that, will replace photographers, artists, designers, et al. I actually tried these AI sites and programs. Just to see what the fuss was about.
While I won’t share any details, I had to fiddle with the settings god knows how many times. And even then, the results were never acceptable. People didn’t look right; certain outfits looked like they were painted on; objects didn’t look like monuments; and other issues, too.
At that stage, I’d rather ask someone to volunteer to be photographed / modeled. Or, make a cake / sculpture based off of a monument myself. Or, just flat out do something artistic in the real world. With actual, physical tools on-hand.
Saying that these glorified auto-complete tools with a plastered name will replace any creatives. That’s just foolishness. And I’m calling it now: just like with non-fungible tokens (NFTs), cryptocurrency, and the metaverse. This so-called AI is going to go bust. Sooner or later, the AI bubble is going to burst. Like with the dot com and housing bubbles, too.
