Free Project Management Software

Hey guys, I just thought I would pass along my experience with Trello, which is an online project management software program.  I was trying to figure out a better way to keep track of emails from clients and to track what I was doing on each project as I did it, rather than at the end of the day.  More often than not, I would keep working and not leave any time to write down what I did.  The next day I would update my notes but it was not very detailed because it was not fresh in my head.  I posted on Facebook and one of my friends says she uses Trello so I decided to try it out.  WithTrello, it is very easy to take detailed notes without stopping what I am doing.  I do not have to open up a new program, find the file, etc.  I keep the browser window open and make comments on each item of my to-do list in real time.  When a task is complete, I move it over to the done folder and it stays there.  This way I can go back and see what I did months from now if the situation ever comes up again.  I also like the fact that I can forward emails from clients directly to my client board and list.  This way each email is set up as a to-do list item.   It is so much easier and saves time and headaches!

Am I the most organized person? Probably not but if I am not organized then I lose time and money.  I am also a firm believer in the practice of Feng Shui, the art of placement.  One of the most important things it emphasizes is if you can get rid of your clutter it opens up new opportunities.  I think this applies to your digital clutter as well.  Pretty much the only way to get me motivated and happy about cleaning and organizing is to know that it serves an important purpose such as opening up new opportunities. So if clearing clutter and organizing yourself does that, I am all for it.  By the way, I can tell you stories.  One is of how I helped a friend years ago arrange the furniture in her new apartment via Feng Shui principles.  Almost immediately (a few months) she was asked to house sit longterm for a beautiful house in South Florida, saving her money plus what a house! Whatever works!

If you are having problems staying organized, then check out Trello.  It works for many different types of businesses, not just website design.  It is also FREE
