Automated Social Bookmarking Software Review

Posted by Heather | Search Engine Marketing Tactics, graphic design | Friday 30 April 2010 11:59 am

I just purchased this software a few weeks ago to help increase the traffic to my website and blog, plus help clients do the same.  I noticed that whenever I post a blog and then submitted it by hand to some of my favorite bookmarking sites like dig.com, reddit.com and stumbleupon.com, my traffic went up to at least 100 new visitors in addition to what I was already getting.  I thought that was pretty cool but the only problem doing it by hand is it is time consuming and tedious.  So I searched around on the internet to find some sort of software program that could do this quickly and easily and found Bookmarking Demon.

So far it is so good.  The software submits my website pages or blog posts to around 50 out of 100 social bookmarking sites.  This helps with search engine optimization because of the calculation that the engines use as a “vote”.  Websites with your link pointing to a page on your site tells the engines your site is popular and social bookmarking is a part of that equation.  I used it a couple of times with my blog posts and yes, my traffic did jump dramatically for that day.  I even had someone from the UK contact me for design work.   This leads me to believe the software program is working.

Any drawbacks?  Well, the interface takes a bit getting used to and I haven’t even gone into the professional view yet, just stuck with the beginner mode.  Another drawback is you still have to hand type in your keywords, title tag and url…but after that the submission is automatic and you just wait until it is finished.  It gives you a report of the successful submissions at the end of the run so you can see just how many were submitted.  It averages about 50 out of 100 which I say is still good because you will not catch me sitting at my computer tediously submitting my website or posts to 50 sites by hand.  That is not what I want to spend my time doing!

My disclaimer….this software is NOT supposed to be used for spamming!  It’s main purpose is to get high quality social bookmarking links going to your site so you get more traffic.  I think it is best for people that have blogs and constantly changing content.  You submit your content with the program and it gets out there faster, getting you traffic, customers, inquiries and sales!

Check out the bookmarking demon website, you can download it at the very end of the page, and you can also turn off the sound on the video…it’s kind of annoying!

Crystals give good energy!

Posted by Heather | Thoughts from Heather | Wednesday 21 April 2010 12:15 pm

This is something I have noticed over the past few weeks.  I started a part time job at one of my clients galleries, Tia Crystal, doing some promotional work on the web and basically taking care of any inquiries on the phone or walks ins…it’s fun and a little extra money.  I have been going there one day a week for the past four weeks and have noticed an energy change, for the better, from being there.  My energy level improves and I able to focus more on the task at hand.  Why is this?  Well, it’s my opinion it’s all the crystal artwork and the huge amethyst and quartz crystals all over the place.  Tia uses ground up crystal and regular sized crystals in almost all of her artwork, so naturally I might be the benefactor of good vibes!  Does my place have good vibes?  I think so, but I don’t have enormous crystals around my apartment and embedded in my own artwork…it goes to show you…energy can be enhanced in a multitude of ways…

iPhone Applications & iPads & Trends – Interview with Chris Cabell

Posted by Heather | Interviews, New Technology and Services | Tuesday 6 April 2010 2:01 pm

I met Chris a few months ago through the New Tech Meetup down here in South Florida.  I like going to these meetups since I get to meet other people in my field plus learn about some of the new trends and technologies.  Chris is the owner of Application Works, a company that specializes in designing Iphone applications.

Here is what he has to say…

What is your business and how did you get into it?

I design applications for the iPhone, iPad, and Google Android. I designed my first application in 2007 when the iPhone first came out. It was a mobile travel guide for the Las Vegas strip. I realized that I enjoyed the creative aspect of application design much more than my corporate banking job. I began devoting more time to developing mobile applications, until I eventually left my job and created AppWorks Inc. To date I have collaborated on more than 60 iPhone Apps.

Where do you see mobile technologies and applications going in the future? Is the market growing?

I think the mobile market in going to explode over the next few years. I think we will see the line between the traditional web and the mobile web start to blur. The mobile web is going to have the same robust content we have on our home computers. I also think people are going to find more and more creative ways to monetize mobile technology, which will further drive growth.

What do you suggest for small business like my clients?

If you have a great idea, chances are someone out there is thinking of doing the same thing. And if someone else has already tried your idea, but you think you can do it better… Go for it.

What do you think about the iPad?

At first I was skeptical. I didn’t see the full potential of the device until people began approaching me with application ideas. Most of the applications would not be practical on an iPhone, but the iPad’s size gives it a distinct advantage. For example, I had someone who owned a nightclub approach me to make an application that would allow his patrons to enter their emails and phone numbers on the iPad. The device would store all the data into a spreadsheet and provide him with a great email and sms marketing list. That application would not be practical on an iPhone, and laptops are cumbersome. The iPad seems to fill the void between a mobile phone and a laptop.

I think the iPad also has the potential to crush the Kindle and all the other readers. Apple has a very solid infrastructure with which to sell and distribute books and publications. I think we will see a lot of newspapers and magazines offering their content digitally on the iPad.

My Aura – Aura Photography

Posted by Heather | Thoughts from Heather | Sunday 4 April 2010 2:10 pm

I got my aura photo taken at The House of Tia Crystal yesterday…

Aura photography is basically Kirlian Photograph, where an objects energy field can be photographed.  I won’t go into the mechanics of it because you can read it about it online by doing a google search or looking in wikipedia…but it is pretty cool…

Mine is orange, artistic = creative, emotional – red = passionate and creative, yellow = optimistic and spontaneous, happy and friendly, and white = spiritually motivated and loving.  I was happy about the white being in there because every few years I get my aura photographed, for fun, and I am always orange and red.  It is nice to see I am finally “getting it” and becoming more connected spiritually.

The woman who did the aura photography travels around Florida and does the work…she was really nice.  She said the orange on the left meant that money was coming into my life…hey, that is always good news!  You can check out her website at www.AuraVisions.net .
